Font Art

Font Art
Contenuto dell'eBook:

Font Art is a mini eBook about just that: font art.

If you appreciate the artistic qualities of fonts and enjoy playing around with graphics, this book is designed to give you an array of ideas as to how different font styles and font characters can be used to create elegant designs … for banners, for headers, for decorative elements or to literally create complete works of art.

The swans on the cover were created using only two font characters with a little bit of help from a font and word 'enhancement' program.

This eBook features the use of Microsoft's WordArt application: Many other similar programs are available and installed in non-Microsoft products.

If you've always aspired to create a motorcycle using parentheses, a spaceman using exclamation points or a flower using Q's, you can compare your own conceptual designs.

If you've never looked at (or for) a Character Map on your computer, you can see what one looks like here.

If you're unfamiliar with the concept of a character code and the array of characters you likely already have available, you'll get introduced.

Fonts are great if you work with highly creative kids and/or adults and want some easy-to-find building blocks for doing digital designs: Many possibilities are featured.

Likewise, if you work with kids and/or adults who lack a steady hand but have an 'eye' for design and layout, it's amazing what can be created just with fonts.

Note that this book is short and contains only 21 figures … many featuring a multitude of designs.

The text is designed to be readable for kids (grade 4 and up) and adults.

And, I'll note it here because I didn't include it in the book: Search on 'Fonts' to see the extraordinary array of fonts currently available online for commercial and non-commercial use.

Happy font hunting!
